If you happen to be from or have travelled through a country that has risk of Yellow Fever (list here: http://www.mfa.go.th/main/en/services/4908/15384-List-of-countries-which-require-International-Heal.html ) you MUST have proof of being vaccinated for it before being allowed into the country.

Other than that there are no requirements to have any vaccinations to be allowed into the country.

If you are visiting one of the many tourists spots like Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai etc there isn’t really a need for any. You should probably check you are up to date for Tetanus and Hep A/B but that is general vaccine stuff not specific to Thailand.

If you are planning to visit some of the more remote areas or jungles of Thailand then you may want to research further as to what to get.

Dengue fever & Chikungunya (similar symptoms to Dengue) Is prevalent in many areas of Thailand, but there isn’t really a vaccine for it, so just make sure you use lots of mosquito spray to ward them off. Sunrise and Sunset is when the mosquitos are most active.

Check with your health provider to see what they recommend.

Always best to check with your doctor, however, there are no mandatory vaccinations unless you come from a yellow fever area. I would recommend hepatitis and a booster on your tetanus. The most common you will find in Thailand is dengue fever and there is no vaccine for that, just using mosquito repellent. The choice is always up to you. In Canada these vaccine recommendations are very costly and because they are optional, they are not covered. Been in S.E. Asia for 8 months and have had no issues, that is including India.

As an addendum, my doctor told me i had to have all of them, mandatory, and would have cost me almost as much as my first trip.

If you get any vaccines it’s likely to be cheaper to get them in Thailand when you arrive. Depends where you’re from though.

You need to consult your government health service as they have the latest up to date information. It’s ridiculous to ask other tourists who are not medically qualified.

Look at travel health pro or fit for travel websites. Reliable data used by healthcare professionals to assess risk. I would advise booking a travel consultation with your G.P practice Nurse who can advise you.

We are traveling from Canada. Our doctor recommended Hep A and typhoid. Our extended health covered most of the vaccine cost, and the medical clinic doesn’t charge to do the shots. In hindsight I wished I would have asked about Tetanus because our last ones were done 10 years ago. ?‍♀️

Is not mandatory but yes recommended. However, I’ve gone many times to Asia and every time my doctor gives me 2 types of antibiotics to be covered, same for my kids doctors. In fact we are leaving again in June and my doctor just gave us yesterday the new prescriptions.

If you choose to vaccinate yourself, make sure you read the huge long insert with small writing on the vaccine ingredients you are injecting in your body and the possible side effects so you are aware if you are allergic to any of them.
      Good luck.

      I had Hep A, Typhoid & Tetanus.
My hubby only needed Typhoid as he was up to date with everything else.
Speak to the Travel Nurse at your doctors surgery.
We also didn’t have to pay but not every NHS surgery is the same

I have lived a total of seven years in Thailand and travelled there on 22 other occasions.
I have never had any vaccinations prior to going.
If you feel you’d be happier doing so, do so.
