Suitcase with wheels ok if you only go from airport to hotels in taxi. Ridiculously impractical to walk any distance on Thailand foot paths. Backpack is best.
Ruck sack every time
Suitcase is good. Push it rather than carry a backpack
I prefer a rucksack too just take the basics you pick up stuff along the way

Osprey backpack easier for me. Not all of the places will make suitcases easy to move around.
