I think of buying a room in Pattaya to rent it out to tourists. Will it be legal or illegal according to Thailand’s laws?
It is illegal to rent out a unit on a daily/weekly basis because it violates Thailand Hotel Law B.E.2547 (2004) Article 15 and Article 59. Violator is subject to imprisonment for no longer than 1 year or a fine of not more than 20000 baht or both and fines of 10000 baht per day for whole period of violation.
Since 2004 has been illegal to rent condo units on daily/weekly basis according to Hotel law of Thailand, but the police started to punish for the violation of this law only in 2018.
