Bus to surat thani then ferry, its actually a nice ferry journey passed ang thong national park, or fly, but because only Bangkok Airways own the rights to fly into sumui, you’ll pay for it
I’d only consider flying mate.
I’m doing this route in March but I’ve opted for bus then ferry which is the cheaper option
