The Buddhist calendar starts with the death of Buddha.
Buddha passed away 543 years before Jesus, so when you want to know what year it is in Thailand now, just add 543 to the current Christian calendar year.
For example, 2019 + 543 = 2562.
2562 is the Thai year on Christian 2019.
Thai year starts on January 1st and ends on December 31st, just like in the Christian calendar. But before 1940 Thai New Years began in April on Songkran สงกรานต์. Songkran was the Thai New Year. Songkran is still celebrated to this day.
In 2019 it is 2562 in Thailand.
