I cannot find an answer using search. But if a foreign couple (both foreigners) are retired with the life companion as the primary retiree (800K in the bank) and the life companion as his dependent (free), and he dies, what are her options to stay, and how long does she have to make a new option?

I suggest that you get the pin number for your life companion’s bank account – seriously. If he dies and you inform the bank, they’ll close down the account and you will need to follow a long legal process to get your cash. Don’t tell the bank, just move it to your control, as the money belongs to you and your life companion and not the bank or the Thai authorities.
