      Smoking in Thailand is allowed, but with numerous restrictions.

      Smokers should be aware that smoking is not just banned inside some buildings, but also outside if it is 5-meter close to a public entrance or exit.

      No-smoking zones include hospitals, clinics, schools, nurseries, homes for the elderly, health and massage parlours, libraries, learning centres, gymnasiums, swimming pools, ATMs, public toilets, grocery shops, theatres, game shops, drug stores, meeting venues, shopping centres, government offices and organisations,  zoos, amusement and water parks, laundry shops, bus stops, piers, taxi and van stands, and public areas of airports, hotels and condominium buildings.

      The fine of up to 5,000 Baht.

      The list of 24 beaches in Thailand where smoking is prohibited:

      1. Ban Cheun Beach, Trat
      2. Laem Sade Beach, Chanthaburi
      3. Saeng Chan Beach, Rayong
      4. Bang Kaen Beach, Chon Buri
      5. Tham Pang Beach, Chon Buri
      6. Sai Kaeo Beach, Chon Buri
      7. Dong Tan Beach, Chon Buri
      8. Cha-am Beach, Phetchaburi
      9. Hua Hin Beach, Prachuap Khiri Khan
      10. Khao Takiab Beach, Prachuap Khiri Khan
      11. Hat Said Res Beach, Champhon
      12. Bo Phut Beach, Ko Samui, Surat Thani
      13. Chalok Ban Kao Beach, Ko Phangan, Surat Thani
      14. Plai Sai Beach, Nakhon Si Thammarat
      15. Chalatat Beach, Songkhla
      16. Wasukree Beach, Pattani
      17. Patong Beach, Phuket
      18. Ko Kai Nok Beach, Phang-nga
      19. Ko Kai Nai Beach, Phang-nga
      20. Khao Lak Beach, Phang-nga
      21. Phra Ae Beach, Krabi
      22. Khlong Dao Beach, Krabi
      23. Khok Wang Beach, Krabi
      24. Hat Samran Beach, Trang

      The fine of up to 100,000 Baht and/or a maximum of one year in prison.

       

      Electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes are illegal in Thailand.

      According to the United Kingdom Foreign & Commonwealth Office statement:

      “Vaporisers (like e-cigarettes and e-baraku) and refills are illegal in Thailand. These items may be confiscated and you could be fined or sent to prison for up to 10 years if convicted. Their sale or supply is also banned and you could face a heavy fine or up to 5 years imprisonment if found guilty.”
