I was just told by immigration when extending my ED visa that I have run out of pages to stamp and need to get a new passport by June. I’ve heard you can’t just add pages anymore. Is that correct? If anyone has recent experience renewing their passport at the US embassy in Bangkok, please share. Do they destroy the old passport but leave the visa page unharmed?

Due to covid-19, the processing time for passport renewals have been extended but as of the time of my post, renewal time is ~3 weeks.
If time is of the essence, than a limited validity passport can be issued.
Regardless, your visa from your existing passport will be invalidated and upon informing the embassy staff of one’s intent to transfer a visa, they will issue you a letter to chaengwattana immigration (if in. Bkk) that you must take with your cancelled and new passport.
