One of the favourite Thai breakfast dishes is Tom luad moo. This is a soup cooked of chunks of coagulated pig’s blood, combination of different pork parts, often intestines, liver, lungs. The taste is pretty plain, but you can add chili or vinegar to boost up the taste.
Freshly grilled chicken called Gai yang is definitely very popular too.
One more Thai breakfast dish is the thick rice congee porridge known as Joke. It is served very hot, with an egg cracked in the middle, some pieces of minced pork made into meatballs, sometimes a few pieces of liver, and finally garnished with thin slices of ginger and cilantro.
Khanom krok
The small gelatinous items are made from a mixture of rice flour and coconut milk, and various fillings may be included. Spring onion is very common, and other fillings may include sweetcorn or chives.
Omelette and rice
Thai omelettes, known locally as khai jeow, are fluffy and airy inside but deliciously crispy outside. Minced pork is a common addition, though you can also get omelettes with an array of vegetables and other fillings.
