Here you can find out the answers to the typical questions our members ask about using ASK ABOUT THAILAND website.

Should you need help on other questions, please contact us here.

What topics can I ask about here?

ASK ABOUT THAILAND is a Questions and Answers service about Thailand, so you are aligable to ask any question (topic) concerning The Kingdom of Thailand and all aspects of life in here.

You should only ask practical, answerable questions based on your actual interest.

What types of questions should I avoid asking?

Please avoid asking chatty, open-ended questions diminish the usefulness of our site and push other questions off the front page. The vivid example of such questions: "What's up in Thailand these days?" or "Is life good over there in Thailand?", "I'm gonna be first time in Thailand, what do you think?/will I get bored? etc.

Every question should contain only one question. It's prohibited to unite several questions in one. The example of no-no question: "I'm going to Phuket, is it better to go by air or by ferry and where to stay there?"

Do not include excessive description in your question, ex. "I'm first time in Thailand / I'm travelling with 5 kids, their names are ... / I have never travelled alone in my life, etc.
Please ask only question itself and avoid unnecessary details.

Your questions should be neutral in tone, polite, not insulting people.
Questions concerning illegal matters are strictly prohibited.
Avoid discussions and forum-like communications.

How to ask a good question?

This is very simple yet might seem very complicated. Keep in mind that a question should have a half of an answer in it. Let's say you want to know the cost of a bahtbas trip from Jomtien beach to Walking street in Pattaya. The more concrete your question is - the more precise is the answer. Let's see the example:
Question: What is the cost of one way trip by bahtbus from Jomtien to Walking street?
Answer: The price of one way trip by bahtbus from Jomtien to Walking street is 10 baht.

Try to ask yourself first. Taste the question. If you think other people will be able to understand its sense, ask it to public.
Pretty simple.

How to say Thank you for the answers you receive

As our site is not a forum neither a chat, you may show your gratitude only once, when you ask your question, simply add Thank You at the end of your question.
Please, DO NOT post Thank You after the each answer.

Answering questions

The main sense of our site is to provide answers for the questions people ask.
If you know the answer for a question - post it.
If you don't know the answer or not sure if it's correct - don't post it.

The Main No-No
1. Chats and conversations.
2. Discussing other people's answers. If you aren't agree, press DOWN arrow on the left side of the wrong answer. Good answers are seen by the amount of Up arrow having been pressed by the visitors, but not by a discussion.
3. Suppositions. People want definitive answers.

How to find topics you are interested in?

Finding specific questions that interest you can be accomplished a 2 ways:
1. Site search. It is located on the header bar to the left from your avatar and notification bell icon. Simply type in your question or some keywords.
2. Tags. Tags are located at the bottom of the right sidebar. Press on the tag you are interested in and see the topics.

If you cannot find the question you are interested in, ask it to our community.

What if I see an abusive question/answer/comment?

Although we do our best to check all the open communications on Q&A Thailand website, it is quite difficult to filter all abusive content.
If you see an abusive content, please press Report button to point us to this content. We will check it as soon as possible.

How to not be a spammer

Our community tends to vote down over self-promotion and flag it as spam. If you post comprehensive relevant answers, and the answer is somehow about your product or service, that’s okay. The must-do is that you are to disclose your affiliation in your answers.
Do not:
1. Post links instead of an answer. Links are not substitute of an answer. Links should always be directly relevant to a part of your answer.
2. Post questions/answers/comments mentioning your products/service/website very often.

We need no snake-oil salesmen here, sorry. If you look for posting ads on our site, contact us directly.
