Notary Public is known as officials authorized by the country to perform functions such as signature or document verification, affidavits or the existence of affidavits. Notarization of a document is important because the act of notarization itself creates a guarantee of the authenticity of the document or the conduct of the signatories of the document. There are no notaries in Thailand, but some lawyers have the authority to act as lawyers for Thai notary services. In Thailand, it is the Lawyers Council of Thailand that regulates the implementation of state notary services. Thai lawyers must complete and pass a professional services training course before registering as a notary services lawyer.
Attorneys for notary services can perform the following functions:
- Be witness to the signing of parties to a document
- Attestation and certification of certain classes of documents
- Certification of identity of parties to an agreement
- Verification to the authenticity of signatures in a document
- Administration of oaths and affirmations
- Certify documents such as government-issued legal documents
